The European Hostel has newly renovated dorm-style rooms with four six or eight beds as well as some private rooms for a total of 60 beds and shared baths. Wi-Fi is free in dorms and public areas. Among the basic services the hostel offers are a 24-hour reception fax and postal service tour assistance and bicycle rental. A full-service kitchen and a laundromat are on-site for guests' use along with a common room with cable TV and an outdoor terrace. The rooftop balcony and bar area with skyline views of San Francisco is a favorite with guests. Street parking is available-if you are lucky. Centrally located in the SOMA (South of Market) area between Downtown and the Castro the hostel is within two miles of the AMTRAK and the Greyhound Bus stations. The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station is a seven-minute walk away while the Civic Center San Francisco Visitor's Bureau and public library are three-blocks away. Guests can also take a three block stroll to catch a cable car or city bus for further sightseeing. The Moscone Convention Center and Union Square are within a mile of the hostel; Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf are about two miles away. The hostel is 13 miles from San Francisco International Airport.
