Elan Valley is a wonderfully situated family run hotel within half a mile of one of the great achievements of Victorian engineering spectacular scenery and a fabulous area for outdoor enthusiasts. We offer good quality accommodation excellent home-cooked food an interesting wine list. It is the perfect base from which to explore the breath-taking scenery and fantastic wildlife of Mid-Wales often described as Wales best kept secret . We have 11 rooms that are classically designed and furnished to a high standard that range from Double Twin Single and Family rooms with 3 beds. There is also a full disabled access ground floor room and a room that has a four poster bed with Spa Bath. Each room is equipped with all the necessities you will need for a comfortable stay and has superb views of the local area. /p We have a restaurant that serves meals to both residents and non residents. We have a menu that is constantly reviewed and a specials board is often available. Vegetarians gluten free and dairy free diets catered for and you only need to let us know. You can also enjoy a warm local atmosphere in our friendly bar with real ales and a variety of malt whiskies. /p The hotel is also only a short drive away from the Royal Welsh Show or Hay Festival. The valleys and Victorian dams are a spectacular mixture of man-made architecture and natural beauty located in one of the few places in Britain where it is still possible to roam a wild landscape all day in virtual solitude. This is a paradise for walking pony trekking watching birds fishing photography and mountain biking. Rhayader a thriving market town is approximately two miles away and offers a variety of shops pubs cafes a recreational centre and an arts venue. The Elan Valley Visitor Centre is within comfortable walking distance and hosts an exhibition detailing the construction of the Dams. /p
From the clock tower in the centre of Rhayader the Elan Valley Hotel is approximately two and a half miles along the road into the Elan Valley itself. We are located on the right hand side of the road before you reach the Elan Village or the first of the Victorian dams. There is ample parking in front of the hotel or in our private car park behind the hotel.
