Description

A totally unique art hotel next to the Dragon Gate to Chinatown the non-smoking Hotel Triton gives our guests a free wine reception and fun and funky rooms with flat-panel TVs and iPod docks. There aren't too many hotels like this one. Created by a group of nine artists in 1991 the seven-floor Triton is a veritable explosion of color and creativity. It has a 360-degree psychedelic lobby mural evoking San Francisco's Summer of Love past and a living room with gold-green metallic sofas and striped carpeting. The 140 zippy rooms - some designed by celebs like Jerry Garcia and Kathy Griffin - have super-cool touches like walls the color of tomato soup floors made from bamboo signature Triton rubber duckies for bath time and zebra-print bathrobes. Amenities include Wi-Fi (available for a fee) iPod docks and flat-panel TVs with premium cable. Rooms are pet- and eco-friendly. The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness center. A French cafe is next door and parking is available for an extra charge. Hotel Triton is three blocks northeast of Union Square at the Dragon Gate to Chinatown. The cable cars are two blocks west; San Francisco Airport is 14 miles away.
