From Dubrovnik or Split, frequent bus lines are available to Makarska, or you can choose taxi or car rental.The train station in Split is just next to the the bus station in Split, from where you can continue your journey to your final destination on Makarska RivierSplit Airport is situated 30 km from Split bus station. Transfer of passengers from the Airport is organised by buses, also there is a local bus every 20 minutes and taxis are available during the operating time of Split Airport. Bus lines connect all parts of the country. Regular international bus lines connect Croatia with all neighboring countries, as well as most of middle European and west European countries.If you are travelling Makarska by bus - there are connections from all bigger cities and places to Makarska.Bus departures from Zagreb and Split are frequent (every half hour or every hour).## Location InformationMakarska is a picturesque town and port at the foot of the towering Biokovo mountain. The old town core is classically Mediterranean and the newer part with hotels and resorts radiates outward. It's surrounded by delightful pebble beaches and within easy reach of Breal beach. The setting is stunning and the climate relatively mild since the port is protected by the mountain. There are no real cultural sights to speak of but Makarska is an ideal base for active travellers. Biokovo mountain offers walks, hikes and climbs for all levels. Trails are well-marked and there are companies that offer guided tours and jeep trips up the mountain.
